Network Development Plans

European Union Ten-Year Network Development Plan

The requirement for preparing a European Union (EU) Ten-Year Network Development Plan arises from the Regulation (EC) No 715/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009 on conditions for access to the natural gas transmission networks and repealing Regulation (EC) No 1775/2005 . The plan is to be adopted and published every two years within the framework of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) and its purpose is to provide comprehensive information about the development of the European transmission systems and identify potential future investment needs. The plan must include the modelling of the integrated network, drafting of scenarios, a European supply adequacy outlook and a resilience assessment of the system. The plan is available only in English.

Regional investment plans

The Regulation (EC) No 715/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009 on conditions for access to the natural gas transmission networks and repealing Regulation (EC) No 1775/2005 requires transmission systems operators to publish their regional investment plans every two years. The purpose of those plans is to provide an outlook of the regional gas infrastructure, based on the EU Ten-Year Network Development Plan, to identify and specify potential investments in gas infrastructures. All published materials are available exclusively in English.

At present, there are six regional groupings:
  • GRIP North-West
  • GRIP South
  • GRIP Central Eastern Europe (CEE)
  • GRIP BEMIP
  • GRIP Southern Corridor
  • GRIP South-North Corridor
EUSTREAM is a part of two of those regional groupings for the purposes of regional investment planning:

Ten-Year Network Development Plan of  Eustream (TYNDP)

TYNDP in the Slovak Republic is prepared by its operator on an annual basis in accordance with Article 59 of the Energy Act in order to provide gas market participants with information about EUSTREAM’s planned gas infrastructure projects. TYNDP includes a description of the network, scenario of the development of gas consumption in the Slovak Republic and efficient measures to ensure the network adequacy and security of gas supply. TYNDP also covers the key parts of the transmission system, which have to be built or upgraded in the next ten years, along with the planned implementation deadlines. All published materials are available only in Slovak.
